Resumen:
In this work we will present the validation outcomes for GOMOS level 2 version 6.01 ozone and high resolution temperature profiles in comparison to lidar and sonde data. Night-time lidar observations from thirteen sites around the world have been made available through the VALID (satellite validation with lidar) project. The lidars are part of the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC), where quality is assured through frequent algorithm and instrument intercomparisons. An effort is currently ongoing to harmonise the use of constants, the calculation of gravity, the definitions of vertical resolution and the propagation of uncertainties (http://www.issibern.ch/teams/ndacc/). Lidar ozone profiles have been used for altitudes between 18 and 45 km with a maximum reported error of 30%. Temperature profiles are used from 15 km (when available) up to 70 km (when available). Various maximum error settings have been tested. Sonde data have been acquired from the NADIR and SHADOZ databases. Sonde data are used up to an altitude of 30 km. All datasets were interpolated onto a common height grid. For ozone, GOMOS collocations were sought within 800 km and 20 hours from a groundbased/balloon borne observation.
