This posters presents long term naturalistic taphonomic research on guanaco bone weathering in Santa Cruz river mouth and Monte León National Park (Southern Patagonia, Argentina). Bone weathering is the most important process to cause vertebrate remains degradation and destruction in Patagonia. The results show that nine years were enough time to get a slightly weathered ? weathered profile. Differences among carcasses express part of the range of variation of the weathering process in natural despositional contexts and can also be related to specific depositational conditions.
