Resumen:
This paper presents the results of macro and microscopic analysis of a sample of ten bone tools dated to the Formative Period in the Southern Calchaquí Valleys, Northwestern Argentina. All instruments were made on South American camelid metapodials following a very standardized technique. In concordance with previous models of handling and use of camelid resources, we propose that these instruments could have been employed in the processing soft materials (e.g. weaving or basketry).
