Resumen:
INTRODUCTION/OBJECTIVE Cynara scolymus extract (CSE) have long been used in different species for their digestive role, exerting a choleretic?cholagogue effect and thus enhancing fat and lipophilic vitamins absorption. In intensive animal farming these compounds are used as feed additives to improve production outcomes associated to improvement of digestive process. The aim of the present study was to evaluate intestinal health parameters, namely intestinal absorptive area (IAA), Goblet cells count (GC), adherence of bacteria to intestinal mucus (%A) and bacterial populations, after the addition of CSE to the diet in weaned piglets.
