Resumen:
Introduction/Objective:Fosfomycin (FOS) is an antibiotic used for the treatment of lung bacterial infections in pigs. The main sites of infection (biophases) of these pathogens are the interstitial and intracellular fluids. The aim of this study was to determine if in piglets plasma (IV, IM) and biophases (bronchoalveolar lavage fluid-BALF, alveolar macrophages-AM, white blood cells-WBC).Additionally, an in vitro study was carried out to assess permeation of FOS into model respiratory cells. FOS reaches concentrations above the MIC90 for the most important respiratory pathogens in swine production (Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Bordetella bronchisceptica, Salmonella cholerasuis, Pasteurella multocida and Streptococcus sp.).
