Resumen:
One-to-one educational models awakens new educational scenarios, with recent initiatives delivering low-cost laptops to every primary and secondary school students at a massive scale: in Uruguay, the whole population of elementary schools are using the same digital platform. This common educational platform provides a great amount of new possibilities, pushing a profound reformulation of teaching and learning, generating virtually infinite data from children. From the perspective of information technology, the challenge is how to interpret this vast corpus of cognitive development of kids and convert conceptual questions from the educational practice into quantifiable, analytic queries. Our goal is to develop a framework, with a broad effort including a structure for information storage, access and analysis, which may enlighten ancestral cognitive questions. The project has three concrete objectives of progressive difficulty: 1) to develop a tool that includes educational games and applications and registers use and playing behavior; 2) datamining and analysis of registered data which may reveal the underlying mechanisms of thinking (as a first approach, we will attack memory, planning, numerosity, geometry and inhibitory control aspects); and 3) to generate interventions in the educational process of the childs, with upgrade in included games and applications based on feedback obtained from analysis of registered data, towards a more equitative education, providing equal opportunities to every child.
