Resumen:
Alzheimer disease (AD) is the principal cause of dementia in the elderly. Onehistopathological hallmark of AD is the presence of senile plaques, extracellular deposits principally composed of amyloid Beta (AB) peptides, which are normally surrounded by reactive glia. We studied early alterations in hippocampal astrocytes and their progression during the degenerative process in PDAPP transgenic mice, a model of AD.
