Resumen:
ABSTRACTTEXTURAL ANALYSIS OF HYDROTHERMAL QUARTZ IN LOS VISCOS VEIN IN THE FARALLÓN NEGRO VOLCANIC COMPLEX, CATAMARCA, ARGENTINAThe following work presents a textural analysis of the hydrothermal silica present in a mineralized portion of the Los Viscos Vein in the Farallón Negro Volcanic Complex, Catamarca, Argentina. This analysis made new contributions on the genesis of the intermediate sulfidation, Au-rich, epithermal system. Gangue minerals are quartz, carbonates, and Mn-oxides, while secondary species include silver sulfosalts (acanthite- argentite, and proustite), pyrite, and native elements (gold and silver). The complex spatial relationships between the different silica textures reflect that the current exposition level is within the paleo zone.
