Resumen:
Emplacement of Serra Geral Group in Misiones province: geochemical and textural evidences. The Paraná-Etendeka Large Igneous Province is extended in the eastern-centre of South America and southwestern Africa. In South America the Parana-Etendeka LIP (or Serra Geral Group) comprises large areas of Brazil, northern sectors of Uruguay, eastern Paraguay and northeastern of Argentina. In Misiones province the lava stacking reaches around 1300 m and is composed of subalkaline basalts of two groups: of high TiO2 (1.5-2.5%; Paranapanema type) and a higher TiO2 group (3-4%; Pitanga type). The Paranapanema type is also associated with evidences of interaction of magma/wet sediments both at the outcrop (i.e.: peperites, sandstone dikes) and microscopic (quenching textures) scales; liquid inmiscibility textures are common.
