Resumen:
The Corona Chico Vulcanites (CChV) is a post-plateau unit which encompasses a monogenetic volcanism around the Alta Sierra de Somún Curá, within the Somún Curá Magmatic Province in the north of the Extra-Andean Patagonia. CChV includes a wide variety of volcanic constructions with specific morphologies. The presence of gabbroic enclaves of cm-scale is characteristic of the VCCh. Orthopyroxene crystals in disequilibrium with the groundmass, enveloped by a clinopyroxene?olivine reaction rim are considered a diagnostic petrographic feature of CChV. Recent field survey in the north-eastern sector of the basaltic plateau (near Valcheta town) revealed previously unrecognized expressions of CChV in the form of thin basaltic lava flows. CChV near Valcheta bear the typical disequilibrium assemblage of the unit as reported elsewhere
