Resumen:
The variation of magnetic susceptibility with temperature was used to understand the origin of pigments carried by past human populations in the archeological site of Marazzi2 (S53° 31.508´ W69° 21.661´), locate in northwestern of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego (Chile). Comparison with artificial samples of goethite shows that this mineral was present in one of the natural samples. The artificial goethite sample change the color from yellow to red after heating and the thermomagnetic curve shows the presence of hematite.
