Resumen:
Design and preliminary preparation of a pediculocide formulation with natural ingredients Bravi V., Vilarrubi S., Badra S., Castellani, M., Roberts M., Angel Villegas N.IntroductionThe human pediculosis is an ectoparasitosis caused by Pediculus humanus var. capitis. Nowadays the fight against the lice continues due to the great resistance developed by several pharmaceutical preparations on the market. Products based on silicones, essential oils and permethrin derivatives are widely used. Based on the biological activity of essential oils of plant species studied with ovicidal and larvicidal action against lice and action of suffocation caused by silicones, a new formulation with glycolics extracts of official plants has been obtained. Keywords: pediculosis, new formulation, glycolics extractsObjectiveDesign, develop and characterize a preparation for treatment of the pediculosis, to reach the requirements of the law and quality drug compounding standards.Materials and methodsThe formulation was carried out in the laboratory according to Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice Officinal Health Products (Res 1326/2010) of the Ministry of Health of the Province of Córdoba. The formulation was prepared according to the procedure described in National Formulary Spain (FNE) FN/2003/EX/006. The Quality Controls required by Pharmacopeia Argentina VIII ed. (FA) were performed at 24 hours, 30 days and 60 days: organoleptic characteristics, pH and content; according FNE: pH determination with indicator tape McolorpHast Merk: PN/L/CP/001/00.ResultsAn emulsion w/s semifluid was obtained with the following characteristics: pH=5, amber color, refreshing odor, occlusive and good extensibility. Not present lumps, flocculation or coalescence to the microscope. These results remained constant during the period analyzed.ConclusionOne formulation with optimal quality parameters was obtained, which could be used as alternative to pharmacological pediculicides treatments. In a future, chromatographic quality test, microbiological and toxicological assays and effectiveness in live lice will be performed.
