Resumen:
Sulfamethazine
(SMT) is a drug used in the treatment of infections arising from Gram-positive
and Gram-negative organisms. However, the water solubility of SMT is low and
consequently reduces its bioavailability.1 The complexation with â-cyclodextrin (âCD) in presence of auxiliary
substances is a commonly applied approached to increase the solubility of a
poorly soluble compounds.2 Based on the above-mentioned
considerations, the aim of the present series of experiments was to investigate
the combined effect of âCD and different amino acids
[arginine (Arg), aspartic acid (Asp), glutamic acid (Glu), isoleucine (Ile),
leucine (Leu) and valine (Val)] on the enhancement of SMT aqueous solubility.
