Resumen:
The equine production widely evolved in the last year due in part todevelop of assist reproduction techniques (ARTs). However, the in vitroembryo production (IVEP) in the equine species has not had the samesuccessful as other species like bovine and swine. Currently the equineIVEP has been made only through the intracytoplasmic sperm injection. The success of the ARTs is due in part to the spermatozoa quality. Ourlaboratory developed the Sperm Selection Assay (SSA) based on thechemical attraction toward progesterone. This assay allow select andconcentrate spermatozoa in the best physiological state. The aim of thefollowing study is define the experimental condition for apply the SSAand get an enriched subpopulation of spermatozoa using equine frozenthawedsemen samples. The result shows that the subpopulation ofequine spermatozoa with higher level of capacitation and intact DNAcan be select with the adaptation of the SSA
