Resumen:
Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicideworldwide, in order to evaluate the occurrence of this pesticide and itsmicrobiological degradation product, the aminomethylphosphonic acid(AMPA), this study measured their presences in freshwater, sedimentsand suspended particulate matter (SPM) samples from Suquía Riverbasin in Córdoba, Argentina. From all the analyzed samples 35 %contained glyphosate, AMPA or both compounds. The concentrationswere spread in different percentages depending on the environmentalmatrices considered, ranging from 12 to 20 times higher of glyphosateand AMPA in sediment and SPM than in water. The maximumconcentrations found in water were 125 μg. l-1 of glyphosate and 4.8 μg. l-1 of AMPA, in sediment 1882.3 μg. kg-1 and AMPA 266.1 μg. kg-1 and inSPM 1570.7 μg. kg-1 of glyphosate and 684.9 μg. kg-1 of AMPA. Themost polluted area came to be CM that is situated in a green belt zone, insecond place are RP and SR, extensive agricultural areas. As regards theaquatic risk assessment in water and sediments, fish in LC and CM arethreatened by the concentrations of glyphosate in water; these valueswere below the levels of concern for wildlife however it is convenient toupdate the limits established for freshwater aquatic protection.
