Resumen:
We found an innovative way of finding individuals from a conspicuous species in complex habitats such as urban areas. The aim of this study was to detect as much Burrowing owls nest as possible in order to develop an ecological and behavioral study. For this we performed an on-line survey through social networks, specifically Facebook. Out of these surveys we detected and locate 36 new nests of this owl´s species. We found out that developing on-line surveys through social networks to ask for bird?s location is an innovative and cost-effective method to obtain information relatively much faster than would take more used methods such as field surveys.
