Resumen:
The process of institutionalisaton of Political Science in Argentina and its insertion and recognition as autonomous discipline are intimately related to the emergence of the modern capitalist State. Its specialisation is going beyond a simple historical evolution; it is the result of the changes society and in political activity. We differenciate several periods: a- at the begining of Twentieth century the concern about the political studies was related to traning of government officials; b- around 1950 political studies were organised in the universities for creating a new political elite. c- after 1960 the economic development empowered the discipline and the universities began to differenciate International Relations and Public Administration. d- the retur to democracy in 1983 encoraged the creation of specialties in the studies and practice of Political Science and then the emergence of post-graduate degrees. The reconstruction of this social process is going beyond a simple historical chronology and has theoretical consequences.
