This SpecialIssue gathers a series of contributions derived from presentations at the 19ºCongreso Geológico Argentino held in Córdoba, Argentina in 2-6 June 2014.Specificsubjects cover a wide variety of topics and regions of the Argentine andChilean Andes, involving sedimentological analyses and U/Pb dating of detrital zirconsaimed to determine source areas at different times and regions along thesouthern Andes; satellite gravity data for exploring the coupling subductionzone to understand their complex rupture structure; fission track data from theAndes to their foreland region; use of seismic tomography and seismicreflection data for analyzing the Andean crustal structure; and paleomagneticdata and structural and morphological analyses.
