Resumen:
In the western flank of the Precordillera, central-western Argentina, mafic and ultramafic rocks including serpentinites, mafic granulites, metabasaltic dikes, sills and pillow lavas are associated with metasedimentary rocks deposited in a marine environment. These metaigneous units, which are known as the Precordillera mafic-ultramafic belt, are considered to have a range of Neoproterozoic-Devonian protolith ages based on fossil fauna and U-Pb zircon ages. The entire sequence is affected by Early Paleozoic deformation associated to greenschist and amphibolite facies high pressure metamorphism of middle Devonian age (Davis et al. 1999, Willner et al. 2011).
