Resumen:
The Iglesia Valley Basin is part of the Iglesia-Calingasta-Uspallata depression, a NS regional intermountain structure that stretches from 29º30? LS to 32º30? LS, along 350 kilometers (Ramos et al. 1984). It is bounded by the Colangüil Cordillera (Cordillera Frontal) to the West and by the Precordillera to the East. This region is located over the Pampean flat slab segment of the Southern Central Andes (27º-33º LS), which is characterized by the lack of active volcanism since Upper Miocene-Pliocene. Deformation and structural style are consequence of the simultaneous uplift of the Cordillera Frontal and the Precordillera.
