Resumen:
The main objective of the present contribution is to study the Paleozoic sequences developed on the La Pantanosa river region, on the western most side of the Frontal Cordillera, 31°33´S, and its stratigraphy relationship with the recently granite discovered with Paleozoic in age. The stratigraphy and structural features of these Paleozoic deposits, Carboniferous in age, allow inferring a geological evolution history of deformation and the consequent structuring, identifying a new phase of deformation occur within Pennsylvanian time, for this segment of the High Andean Cordillera of San Juan. The stratigraphy sequence of the region, are composes by Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic units. The study area is located at 31º30´S and 70°15´O, in the Frontal Cordillera of San Juan Province, on the modern non-volcanic ?flat-slab? segment, which extends from 28°S to 33°S, above the flat slab segment of the subducting Nazca Plate.
