Resumen:
Even though she was born in Tucumán, the Argentinian writer Elvira Orphée has been historically excluded from the so-called ?literature of Tucumán.? This article addresses the issue by analyzing the way in which the province appears in Orphée?s emblematic novel, Aire tan dulce, published in 1966, as well as in her figure of an author, that self-image that every writer assigns simultaneously to her work. It underlines that, among other aspects, hatred and a derogative rejection of Tucumán converge with fascination and with her decision to use the province aesthetically and strategically in her narrative project.
