Today the one?photon double ionization processis considered closed, inasmuch as full agreementhas been obtained between theory and experiments.On the other hand, the two-photoncase is far more difficult to deal with, especiallyexperimentally because of the weak twophotonionization yield. Non-sequential two?photon double ionization (TPDI) of helium isthe simplest system where such processes occur;discrepancies between several theoreticaldescriptions and with experimental data are, asof today, unresolved.In this contribution, we solve the two?photon ionization problem of Hydrogen withthe Generalized Sturmians Functions (GSF)method. The successful comparison withanalytical and time-dependent solutions providesa benchmark for the non?sequential two?photon double ionization of atoms, and allows usto master the numerical aspects of the methodology.
