Resumen:
We study the coupling between layers of cylinder-forming block copolymer thin films. We prepared a shear-aligned diblock copolymer PS-PHMA 33/78 monolayer and used it as seed to control the orientational order in a second PS-PHMA monolayer. We used AFM to follow the dynamics of coarsening after thermal annealing at 150 ºC in vacuum. Also a Brazovskii free energy model was employed to analyze the coupling between the two layers. We found that the final configuration corresponds to the two layers oriented correlated in an equilibrium state. Thus, with appropriate control over the substrate features, it should be possible to obtain structures with controlled orientation.
