Resumen:
Treatment of glaucoma is usually performed with continuousinstillationsof hypotensiveeye drops. Despite the usefulnessof topicalroute, chronic administration of antiglaucoma medicationsis usuallyassociatedwith adversereactionsdue to the drug or excipientsincludedin the formulation. Among the excipients employed in eye drops.preservativesare the most related to surface alterations.Eliminationof antimicrobial agents from the topical formulations is not alwaysenough to avoid non desired effects and the ocular surfacemightbealtered.Thedevelopment of hybrid formulations includingcomponentsable to improvethe syrnptornsdry eye is an important challengeinthedevelopment of chronic antihypertensivetherapies.Quinteros D, Vicario-de-la-Torre M, Andrés-Guerrero V, PalmaS.Allemandi D, Herrero-VanrellR,Molina-MartínezIT.Hybridformulationsof liposomesand bioadhesivepolymers improvethe hypotensiveeffectof the melatonin analogue5-MCA-NATin rabbit eyes.PLoSOne.2014,20; 9(10) ell0344. doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0110344.Acknowledgements- Thiswork hasbeensupported by FISPll0/00645,FIS PIl0/0093, MAT 2013-42127-R,RETIC(OFTARED)12/0034;UCMResearchGroup 920415(GR3/14) and CONICET(FONCyTPICl20100380).
