Resumen:
This is the first of a catalogue series that the Departamento Científico de Paleontología Vertebrados of the Museo de La Plata will publish on fossil vertebrates type housed in this institution. The primary purpose of this catalogue is to present data on type specimens in the Museo de La Plata fossil vertebrate collection, and in some cases, to provide new figures of the type specimens. The first step of this series includes only the type fossils of the order Carnivora. Ninetheen type specimens of Carnivora were examined and listed and belong to sixteen species distributed in the following families: Canidae (5 species), Mustelidae (4 species), Procyonidae (4 species), Phocidae (1 species) and Felidae (2 species). Complete information about original publication, synonymy, collection data, and state of preservation is given for each specimen.
