Resumen:
This paper presents the design and operation of a maximum power point tracking13 system for photovoltaic systems. The tracking system consists of two fuzzy logic controllers14 (FLC). One of them estimates the reference signal and the other one serves as a controller15 responsible for providing a control signal that is proportional to the error between the reference16 signal and the actual output. The maximum power voltage is used as a reference signal, which is17 estimated in terms of irradiance and cell temperature. The controller modifies the control signal18 until the targeted reference voltage is found. In this paper, a detailed study of a photovoltaic19 panel model is carried out. The characteristics of the I-V curves (current vs. voltage) of a panel20 array are analysed and the transient response imposed by the DC/DC converter-panel system is21 simulated. This paper also demonstrates a greater efficiency in the response of proposed22 tracking system as compared to the systems using a conventional tracking algorithm. A boost23 converter connected to a 24V-battery pack was designed in order to change the power in the24 panel array. Different measurements and simulations showing the response of the developed25 system and allowing verification of its proper operation are also presented.
