Resumen:
Ecological experiments in field enclosures are common, but enclosure conditions are not necessarilynatural. In many experiments involving zooplankton the food available to zooplankton inside enclosures should match the food available outside, at least in control replicates. However, typical enclosures, such as plastic bags, sealed bottles or containers with mesh panels, are unlikely to meet this criterion. To overcome this problem we designed a simple in situ continuous culture system. VIJVERBERG (1989) reviewed zooplankton culture systems. The simple system described here is the only one we know of that continually flushes culture vessels in situ and does not require electricity.
