Resumen:
Cancer stem cells (CSC) are resistant to both chemotherapy and radiotherapy and are considered the seed of metastasis. Previously, we observed that CSCs derived from HER2-negative breast cancer lines over-express this receptor. With the aim of validating a new therapeutic strategy against this cellular component, we study the effect of the combined treatment of All-Trans Retinoic Acid (ATRA) with Lapatinib (an inhibitor of the HER receptor) in cell cultures from the line HS578T triple negative human mammary tumor. The presence of Lapatinib (5µM) on monolayer cultures induced morphological changes, like increasing of spindle cells and reduced contact between them. In addition, the treatment with Lapatinib and combined with ATRA showed a decrease in proliferation respect to the control at 72 hours and 96 hours (P
