Resumen:
Economic Theory has been largely based on Set Theory, and particularly on Bourbaki´s variety. This means that it is based on the definition of entities. We analyze here the claim that it needs, instead, to be based on the characterizationof relationships. The appropriate mathematical framework for this is category theory. Here we introduce the basics of this field and its importance in all areas of Mathematics. Then, we study three important theoretical problems (the characterization of game theory´s states of the world, the possible existence of an encompassing model for behavioral economics and the composition of games) using categorical methods.
