Resumen:
Currently, the PMTs of the AMIGA muon counters are being replaced with SiPMswithout performing any substantial modifications to the counter mechanical design. We present a calibration study for a prototype module paired with the Toune surfacedetector (ID: 688). In this prototype, a Hamamatsu S12572-100C SiPM was attachedto customized front-end electronics and the standard AMIGA back-end. In addition,a study concerning gain stability and temperature variation is presented. The temper-ature compensation mechanism for the SiPMs reduces gain variation associated withtemperature dependence by a factor of 20. Finally, we show a comparison betweentraces measured by both photo detectors (PMT and SiPM) for modules paired withthe same surface detector. The results show that the SiPM response is comparableto the PMT response and well above noise level.
