Resumen:
The engineering array of AMIGA is equipped with detectors of 5 m2 and 10 m2 built with scintil-lator strips of 2 m and 4 m length respectively attached to a multi-anode photo-multiplier tube.  Thesetwo hardware components, as well as the strategy applied to the 1-bit patterns to identify muonic sig-nals, determine the reconstruction efficiency of the detectors.  In this note, a thorough analysis of thedifferently sized scintillators? accuracies in counting muons is presented.  The reconstruction efficiencyis 95% (83%) for small (large) area modules using the counting strategy proposed thus far. The impactof modifying this standard reconstruction algorithm is also investigated. The novel procedure presentedin this note allows small signals to be recovered and an efficiency of 93% is also achieved in the 10 m2modules for events of low multiplicity. Nevertheless, as soon as more than 10 muons are simultaneouslyinjected, both strategies perform identically. The study is based on laboratory measurements acquiredwith the same electronic kits installed in the prototype hexagon in the field.
