It is briefly described in this work the design, fabrication process, and deployment of the muon detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory enhancement project called AMIGA. The possibility of using muon detectors for the CTA project is explored by using a similar technology with plastic scintillators, procedures, logistics and techniques developed for AMIGA. A preliminary study of extensive air showers simulated with CORSIKA is used as well to evaluate the feasibility of a discrimination of the mass by incorporating a muon detector array for CTA.
