Resumen:
P2X7 receptor are ligand-gated calcium channels activated by ATP. On the central nervous system, they mediate the release of neurotransmitters and citoquines, as well as glial activation in response to inflammatory damage. These effects are mediated bay the activation of the MAPK pathway, including B-raf and ERK 1/2. We found that PARP1 is associated to P2X7R signaling pathway on central nervous system cells. This association seems to have a dual role. On the one hand, PARP1 modulates P2X7R function. On the other hand, P2X7R activates PARP1. Thus, we report PARP1 involved on P2X7 receptor signaling pathway for the first time, possibly being an effector of the inflammatory response mediated by P2X7 on central nervous system.
