Resumen:
To characterize regulators of proanthocyanidins in forage legumes, we embarked on identification of MYBs and bHLHs from Lotus corniculatus. Here we report on cloning and functional characterization of LcMYB132, a MYB with C1 and C2 repression domains.Ectopic expression of LcMYB132 in tobacco induced a depigmentation in floral limbs. The more the transgene was expressed the lest were the levels of pigments accumulated. Since no others alterations were exhibited by transgenic lines, we argued that LcMYB132 in tobacco specifically represses anthocyanins. Conversely in Lotus corniculatus, LcMYB132 triggered an increase of proanthocyanidins in leaves. Experiments are in progress to identify the Lotus corniculatus genes targeted by the repressor.
