The involvement of isochorismate synthase (EC 5.4.99.6) in the biosynthesis of 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,3-DHBA), was confirmed by the incorporation of [1-13C]pyruvate in 2,3-DHBA in a transgenic C. roseus cell line constitutively overexpressing the C. roseus plant ics-gene.
