Resumen:
LSPIV (LargeScale Particle Image Velocimetry) and LSPTV (LargeScale Particle Tracking Velocimetry) are used as relatively low-costand non-intrusive techniques for water -surfacevelocity analysis and flow discharge measurements in rivers or large -scalehydraulic models. This paper describes a methodology based onstate-of-the-art tools (for example, that apply classical PIV/PTV analysis) resultingin large-scale surface -flowcharacterization, according tothe first operational version of the RIVeR (Rectification of Image VelocityResults). RIVeR is developed in Matlab and is designedto be user -friendly. ItRIVeRprocesses large -scale water -surfacecharacterization such as velocityfields or individual trajectories of floating tracers. Thiswork describes the wide range of application of the techniques forcomparing measured surface flows in hydraulic physical models to flowdischarge estimates for a wide range offlow events in rivers (forexample, low and high flows).
