Resumen:
This article presents a stationary two-dimensional model with fixed bed and no sediment transport in the overflow reach of El Chañaral, located in the Upper Pilcomayo, part of the lower basin of the Pilcomayo River, in order to approximate the flow that activates the overflow. In previous work overflow has been characterized, this information is summarized in the first section of this work.To achieve the proposed objective it has been analyzed satellite imagery, hydrographs, gauging during floods, topographies and SRTM radar images. In a first stage the topography and images SRTM were analyzed to develop the digital terrain model, then the boundary conditions model were selected with the help of satellite images and hydrometric series, and finally the results are evaluated to determine flow rates that overflows as well as those which continue downstream in the Pilcomayo River, the flows input considered were 2500 m3/s, 3000 m3/s, 3500 m3/s, 4000 m3/s and 5000 m3/s. Subsequently the results of the modeling are superimposed on satellite images available for the studied flows. It could be determined with this information an approximation to the flows that activates the overflows and then compared with good results to previous work.
