Resumen:
Very few countries in Latin America have Weather Radars in operationand even less have managed to integrate them as a network along with some otherremote sensing instruments for hydro-meteorological monitoring. Certainly, thisis of paramount importance for any country, especially for those as extensiveas Argentina. In 2009, Argentina founded the National Weather Radars System(SiNaRaMe). Its purpose was to completely cover Argentina?s territory by integratingand upgrading existing infrastructure and more importantly, by fullymanufacturing twelve new weather radar systems (the RMA series). SiNaRaMe,currently being developed with a measure of success, constitutes a pioneeringexperience for the region. This paper describes this project including one ofthe most important aspects to consider in the pursuit of a fully functionalweather radar network: its calibration process.
