Resumen:
We carried out CO and H I studies toward the gamma-ray supernova remnant (SNR) Puppis A in order to estimate the total energy of accelerated cosmic-ray protons W p in the SNR. We revealed that theCO and H I clouds at V (LSR) = 8?20 km/s are physically associated with the SNR, because the clouds show (1) an expanding gas motion, (2) high-intensity ratios of CO J = 2?1/1?0, and (3) a broad CO lineprofile caused by shock-cloud interactions. The Wp value is estimated to be ~4 × 10 47 erg by adopting a gas density of ~260 cm −3 , suggesting that almost all cosmic-rays have been escaped from the SNR.
