Resumen:
The relationships between the families, Sicariidae, Drymusidae, Scytodidae, and Periegopidae had been contentious for a long time. Throughout the years those families were grouped: (1) as genera in the family Sicariidae, along with the diguetids; (2) as families in a superfamily Scytodoidea, including Ochyroceratidae, Diguetidae, Plectreuridae, Tetrablemmidae, Pholcidae and Caponiidae; (3) in two different superfamilies: Scytodoidea, but Periegopidae in a Tetrablemmoidea; (4) in a monophyletic group of Scytodidae, Sicariidae, and Drymusidae, without mentioning Periegopidae; and (5) in a superfamily Sicarioidea, along with Diguetidae and Plectreuridae. Here we present a reviewed phylogenetic analysis of haplogyne spiders, emphasizing on Periegops and its closer relatives. Periegops fits well within a restricted Scytodoidea, including only Scytodidae, Sicariidae, Periegopidae and Drymusidae.
