Resumen:
this paper we have studied, in terms of a fractal analysis, the time distribution of Dst peaks associated with Storm Sudden Commencements (SSCs), during the years 1957 and 1978. To ensure a complete set of data, we considered only moderate and strong storms (Dst peaks < - 50 nT) and performed three analyses, one including all these events and then each one, moderate and strong, separately. Using a ID box counting technique, the fractal dimension was determined within the ranges of time scales over which good fits were obtained. Similar results have been observed for the different sets of data. In all the cases a strong clustering has been determined for ranges of scale series between 1 month and 1 yr, showing a non-random contribution in the generation of storms with sudden commencements, which are usually associated to a stochastic behavior.
