Resumen:
This dissertation summarizes the results of a doctoral thesis that explores the history of Buenos Aires? shantytowns between 1958 and 1983, highlighting those experiences and memories that boosted the origins of the three main organizations established in these spaces during the examined period. By doing so, we expect to establish new basis for the study of a topic that, even though it was explored by disciplines such as sociology, architecture, anthropology and urbanism, was still not examined in depth by the History. In this case, the investigation implied the research, systematization and critical analysis of different sources, such as political leaflets, resolutions of territorial organizations, local newspapers, massive press and official documents. These sources, that were gathered through more than a decade, belong in some cases to public archives but are, mainly, part of the private files of those who were interviewed during the investigation process, such as priests from the shantytowns, lawyers that defended the inhabitants under different circumstances, and slum dwellers in general.
