Resumen:
The quality and effectiveness of the poetic discourse of Homer allows us to appreciate the organization of the story as the performance of the myth. In that performative context, three significant discursive typologies can be found: the pray, the funeral lament and the encomium. In this paper I intend to analyze four sequences in which the characters’ speeches offer a special "representation" of the myth. In Iliad, they are: the pray of Thetis to Zeus in the Book I and the funeral lament of Thetis for Achilles in Book XVIII. In Odyssey, I will refer to the sequence of the pray from Odysseus to Nausicaa in Book 6, and finally the Penelope’s praise expressed by Agamemnon in Book 24, like the very conclusion of the poem.
