Resumen:
Scholars of the history of classical rhetoric have addressed the questions related to the kind of speech peculiar to the Rhetoric to Alexander. My paper aims to both emphasize a different approach than the historical one chosen by the Hellenists and reconsider the question of the legitimacy of use of discourse exetastikón. Although acknowledging that this handbook encourages the idea of strengthening the position of its users while undermining the position of their interlocutorsconsidered as adversaries, here I while argue that the descriptive hypothesis, with its narrower conjectural scope, reaffirms the dialectical background of the respective contexts of uses of that discourse. In the light of this hypothesis, I suggest a reconsideration of some critical uses of the exétasis attested at the Rhetoricto Alexander. The dialectical phase of Aristotelian texts is very close to the visions of the author of this handbook in this regard, and current theses in argumentation theory may illuminate how some critical uses of the exétasis work, and tell us something relevant about how they should be evaluated.(Observaciones: el presente paper desarrolla una de las (dos) líneas de lectura que defendí en la exposición con la que participé del XXth Congress de la ISHR, Universitaet-Tübingen (Alemania), Julio 2015.)
