Abstract: This article discusses some ideas expressed by Jairus Banaji in a recent publication. I will focus especially on criticism of the author on some fragments of Capital of K. Marx on wage labour, and on the idea of capitalism in the Ancient Rome. I also discuss the claims of the modernist position in the economic analysis.
