The social construction of young people careers is the result of complex interaction both at a structural and macro-social institutional level as well as a micro-socialinstitutional and individual level. In the framework of a researchproject, this paper starts off with a specific question which refers to how work trainingprogrammes make an impact on young people who have completed compulsorysecondary school education careers and who come from low social backgrounds. The  study covers the suburbs of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
