Resumen:
ABSTRACT Liolaemus saxatilis is a saurie tropiduridae of median size, descripted for the Comechingones hills (Córdoba province, Argentina) and included in the chiliensis group by Etheridge (1995). In the present work six individuals are studied, four males and two females, from the locality where this taxon was descripted. Conventional cytogenetic techniques are employed to analyze the chromosomes at intestinal cells. The karyotype of individuals are studied, four males and two females, from the locality where this taxon was descripted. The diploid number is 2n: 32, composed of 6 pairs of macrochromosomes and 20 microchromosomes. The macrochromosomes pairs number 1, 3, 4 and 5 are metacentric, being the morphology of pairs number 2 and 6 submetacentric. The microchromosomes are diminute with dot appearance with the exception of the pairs number 7, 8, and 9. The pair number 7 is clearly acrocentric or telocentric and pairs number 8 and 9 are metacentric. Using these three first pairs of microchromosomes it is possible to differenciate Liolaemus saxatilis from others taxons of the chiliensis group. This is the first report of karyotype 2n: 32 of Liolaemus saxatilis. karyotype 2n: 32 of Liolaemus saxatilis. saxatilis from others taxons of the chiliensis group.
