Resumen:
We document the presence of Phrynops geoffroanus in Argentina by first time, based on three adults and two hatchlings collected in the Yacyretá dam region, Corrientes. These constitute the most southern records for the species from Paraná River basin and South America. Additionally we reported three adult specimens of Mesoclemmys vanderhaegei  from Corrientes and Misiones provinces, a poorly known turtle species distributed along the Amazonas, Tocantins, Paraguay, Paraná and Uruguay rivers basins. This species in Argentina was recorded only for three localities of the northeast. We analyzed the biogreographic areas and habitats used by these turtles in Argentina.
