Resumen:
Animal resource use has changed over time in northwestern Patagonia, as reflected in the number of taxa exploited and their abundance within faunal assemblages (Corbat et al. 2017; Neme 2007; Neme and Gil 2012). Studies describe a decrease after 2000 years ago in the Artiodactyl Index (sensu Broughton 1994; hereafter AI) specifically in context to camelids (guanacos, Lama guanicoe). These decreasing AI values are presumably due to overhunting of camelids that led to a decrease in regional encounter rates and resulted in resource intensification (Neme 2007).
